Full Itinerary
With this ride we will go to the suggestive ghost town of San Salvatore del Sinis, we will then enter the maze of winding paths between the surrounding hills. The small village of San Salvatore is now uninhabited and comes to life again only on the occasion of the famous Corsa degli Scalzi di Cabras. During this event, the saint's statue is carried on the shoulders of the locals in order to be brought back to the consecrated church. Barefooted and wearing a totally white outfit, the participants then run for about 7 km from Cabras to San Salvatore. The small village is also well known for its western setting and was one of the most used film sets by the great Italian director Sergio Leone. With a mountain bike excursion in the sunny Sinis Peninsula, we will cycle through verdant hilly landscapes, cultivated fields, olive groves, and vines. And once we enter the most inaccessible paths, these will lead us to a climb on the hills that hide the sea from view, up to a panoramic point. From there, on the left side, it will be possible to see the entire valley overlooking the Gulf of Sinis. We stop here for a break, some photos, and a snack. Close to the sea, a 40 km long coastline stands out, guarding the precious white quartz beaches of Is Aruttas and Mari Ermi and the steep cliffs of Su Tingiosu. If we will still have some time, we are going to the beach for a swim before returning to Oristano. We have different options for this tour, from natural tracks suitable for mountain biking to less demanding roads.
