We start from our meeting point straight to the near Multeddu by following the SS 134 for 5 km, your guide will kick off the tour by taking you to the Roccia dell’Elefante (literally, the Elephant Rock). After cycling for about 5 km, you will closely observe the details of this 4 meters high volcanic boulder which was eroded by time and wind. The Roccia dell’Elefante once rolled from Mount Castellazzu to stop close to a cliff as if to observe the whole valley from above. You will be amazed to discover that, in reality, two domus de janas are kept inside the trachyte elephant - they represent typical burial places of pre-Nuragic Sardinia. Furthermore, an ancient unconfirmed legend states that the valley remained submerged for years, and that is why the remains of marine fossils can be glimpsed not only in the surface of the rock but also in the surrounding mountains. You will have time to take a few shots of this scenery before undertaking the climb towards Monte Ossoni and its megalithic wall, and once you arrive at this intermediate stop you can choose whether to go up to the top or stay and admire the flourishing nature of the surrounding plain. We will stop here for lunch break. The beautiful Cala Ostina awaits us for a swim on the way back, not before cycling downhill overlooking the sea following a track of Roman origins in the hamlet of La Ciaccia. Back in the saddle, you will reach the end of the route glimpsing the magnificent Doria Castle in the distance.
We offer different options for this tour, from tracks dedicated to mountain biking to easier roads. Tell us your needs and, together with the guide, we will be able to adapt the route and the various intermediate stops to your needs!
