Journey Overview
Sardinia… The best choice!
This E-Bike tour start from Alghero and arrive at Pula after 7 days of great ride along the Sardinia West Coast.
Famed as Italy’s most exotic island, it is blessed with a fantastic network of well surfaced and car free roads and you’ll be assured of some great cycling.
The island has a stunning coastline, and you choose the best starting point, Alghero. Located in the north-west of the island, this journey takes you along the high rising cliffs of Capo Caccia (The Big Giant) and through the oak forested of the Ferru mountains. Moving south you head into the low marsh lands of Cabras and Sinis Peninsula, crossing the Arborea plain and onto the mountainous Green Coast, finishing your tour in the fishermen’s village of Sant’Antioco.
The route follows the beautiful coastline of sandy beaches, emerald green waters and jaw dropping sea views taking you to the southern point of the island. Sardinia is steeped in history and this route offers the potential to stop and visit ancient sites, Roman baths, Carthaginian settlements and rural churches.
You can stay in a wide variety of dwellings during the holiday, ranging from independently run small hotels to family managed agriturismi and the accommodation is of a consistently high standard throughout.
More Information About Sardinia
Sardinia is a paradise for cyclists with its spacious roads, less number of cars, high-quality tarmac, and relatively low urbanization. The riders will be impressed with the undulating roads along Sardinia’s coast, the high cliffs, passing watch towers, and the remarkable sandy beaches. When you leave the coast behind to ride towards the interior, you will enter a more mountainous terrain that consists of longer and gradual climbs. It also alternates with smooth flowing descents. The shorter sections that lead to the accommodations are usually on gravel roads.
The Accommodations You Will Be Residing In
As mentioned in the above section, you will be spending your nights in different types of accommodations. We have arranged for you to rest in small 3-star hotels that consist of double rooms with comfortable bedding, as you will need the rest after a long day of cycling. Plus, where it was possible, we chose small rural guesthouses, also known as agriturismi, for you to spend your nights. We will make sure that you are taken care of and the hosts greet you with a warm welcome.
The Delicious And Scrumptious Cuisine Of Sardinia
You will get to experience the complete Italian breakfast in majority of the places. However, certain hotels do serve American and other international breakfasts. When it comes to an Italian breakfast, it usually consists of cooked meats, cheese, different variety of breads, sweet yogurts and pastries, and a cappuccino or espresso.
In the case of evening meals, you will be taken to a local restaurant or a Pizzeria. The Pizzerias of Sardinia are known for their delicious pies and when coupled with a drink, you can get a pretty affordable meal for one person.
How To Take Care Of Your Baggage
You would have to leave your baggage at your hotel’s reception desk before 10 am on the luggage transfer day. Make sure that you have used the appropriate tags in order to label your luggage.
Moreover, it should be noted that baggage allowances differ depending on the airline you are traveling on and you would have to pay for any excess baggage charges. Certain airlines might only allow cabin baggage as standard; hence, you might have to request hold baggage separately. There are certain budget carriers that charge for both the cabin plus hold luggage, therefore, make sure to check the costs with your airline prior to traveling.
The Gorgeous Weather Of Sardinia
